Born in Canada, Tristan Thompson is now one of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ most valuable players. A transfer to New Jersey brought Tristan into the spotlight. Several trips deep into national tournaments gave him the power to choose his college. He committed to the University of Texas.
The Cavaliers picked Tristan in the 2011 NBA Draft after a single season at Texas. He finished his degree while juggling his professional basketball career. In 2016, he helped the Cavaliers win the NBA Championship. He holds the record for longest stretch of consecutive games played in the league at 447. The streak ended when he broke a thumb and had to sit out a game against the Boston Celtics. As of 2020, Tristan plays for the Boston Celtics.
