A two-way star at his high school in Danville, Illinois, Trent Sherfield excelled as a quarterback and defensive back for the Vikings. Sherfield chose Vanderbilt University to play collegiate football, and again was tasked with adjusting on the field, this time to receiver, which he had never played before. He sent a school record in 2015 with 240 receiving yards and 16 catches in a win over Austin Pey. Trent finished his collegiate career leading the team in receptions and NFL aspirations.
Known in college for his tireless hard work on the field and in the classroom, Trent Sherfield signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2018. In his first two seasons with the Cardinals, Trent played 29 games and had 19 receptions and one touchdown in his rookie season. Trent continues to be a factor on special teams for the Cardinals, which in 2020 ranked within the top 10 in the league.
Sherfield graduated from Vanderbilt in 2018 with a degree in medicine, health, and society, and a minor in corporate strategies. He knew early on that one day he would want to do something to give back to his hometown of Danville, which he was able to do in 2019 when he started a free football camp at Danville High School. He also raised over $1500 for the Danville football team earlier in the year when he raffled off a pair of game cleats.
