Nick Young was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He played high school ball at Cleveland High where he averaged a career double-double. His shooting and defense caught the eye of scouts across the country. By the end of high school, he found himself on several lists of the nation's top prep players.
Playing for the USC Trojans, Nick stayed close to home in college. He continued to make a name for himself. He made the All-Pac 10 team his junior and senior years. His junior year, Nick led the Trojans into the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. After a loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels, Nick decided to forgo his senior year and declare for the draft. The Wizards picked him in the first round. After a five year tenure in D.C., Nick moved around the league making three rosters in a year. When he landed in Golden State at the start of 2017, Nick took to the Warrior way like a fish to water. He became a world champion in 2018.

His nickname Swaggy P is derived from a name he calls himself, the Prophet of Swag.
Nick’s cousin is also a Los Angeleno with some clout, rapper Kendrick Lamar.
