Born and raised in Georgia, Mecole Hardman played both quarterback and defensive back in high school. The five-star recruit earned national attention and after his senior season, was selected to represent the East in the Army All-American game. Hardman made the decision to stay close to home and play collegiately at the University of Georgia. As a true freshmen, Mecole appeared in 11 games for the bulldogs. Mecole transitioned to a special teams specialist and wide receiver while at Georgia and in his second season finished with 418 yards and six touchdowns. Appearing in the 2017 College Football National Championship game, he scored two touchdowns in the Bulldogs overtime loss to Alabama. In his third and final season at Georgia, Mecole continued to stand out, especially as a kick returner. He was Georgia’s second-leading receiver, finishing with 532 yards for seven touchdowns.
Forgoing his senior season and declaring for the NFL, Mecole Hardmas was selected 56th overall in the 2019 Draft to the Kansas City Chiefs. As a rookie, Hardman saw time both as a kick return specialist and a receiver. He finished with one kickoff return touchdowns and six receiving touchdowns. Mecole and the Chiefs had an outstanding season, culminating in winning Super Bowl LIV.
