The Money Team
Born on February 24, 1977, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Floyd Joy Sinclair might as well have been given a pair of gloves right then and there. Born into a family of successful boxers, Mayweather’s innate talent can be traced back to his Father, a welter-weight Boxer who fought Sugar Ray Leonard. Plus, his Uncles were both professionals, including his former coach who won two world championships. Despite all the boxing talent around, Mayweather’s childhood wasn’t perfect.
Mayweather’s amateur record was an insanely impressive 84-8. During which, he snagged 3 Golden Glove Championships at three different weight classes. He also went 8-2 in the Olympics. Even though it was early on the come up for Mayweather, he was already showing signs of being the once-in-a-lifetime fighter he is today. Mayweather won his first professional bout on October 11, 1996, via knock out. The rest of his career has followed that trend, as he retired with an astounding 50-0 record. Without a single loss or take down in his entire Professional career, Mayweather stands as the undisputed king of the fight game.
Like any good king, Mayweather rules in style matched by few if any. Making himself a household name not only with his defensive chess-like boxing style, but also “The Money Team”, the lifestyle brand he inspired. Although, Mayweather can be seen rocking high end brands like Gucci, Hublot, Versace, Armani, and Louis Vuitton, he remains loyal to “The Money Team” as well. Among the highest paid athletes according to Forbes, and an entrepreneurial success, Mayweather often flexes his money with purchases like an $18 million dollar watch. When you are the king of the ring, why not?
Floyd once held a 1990s themed birthday party.
Mayweather claims to never bring anger into the ring, as it causes mistakes which not even the richest fighter can afford.
A certified bad-ass, Mayweather gets regular manicures and massages, emphasizing self-care.
