Born in Landsbro, Sweden, Erik Karlsson was all about hockey. Some of the greats he looked up to included: Nicklas Listrom, and Peter Forsberg. In March 2008, merely 18, Karlsson played his debut game in the Elitserien for Frolunda FC. In only 8:48 seconds of ice time, he scored the game winning goal in OT, clinching a Playoff berth for Frolunda. By the time the NHL rankings came out that year, he was 4th among European players. It was clear from the start he had game.
The Ottawa Senators took note and drafted Erik Karlsson 15th overall in 2009. H struggled for the first nine games, and spent a few months in the AHL. However, he was brought back in crunch time and scored his first NHL goal in a 4-1 win. Karlsson dangled the rest of the season, including the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In 2012 and 2015, he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy for Best Defenseman in the NHL. In 2018, he was traded to the San Jose Sharks. After a slow start, he’s scored at least one point for 14 the past games, only the fifth Defenseman ever.
Revered for his lightning quick style of play. And feared for his skating skills and laser-like vision on the ice, it is only fitting that Karlsson’s also known for his fashion. He currently collaborates with Canadian brand RW&CO. Karlsson says he goes for a style of “comfort and fashion”. The most important part of a suit for him is fit and comfort. He knows tailored paints are essential.
