Dennis Schröder was born in Braunschweig, Germany. His professional career began in 2010 in Germany. By the end of the 2013 season, he was awarded the League's Most Improved Player and Best Young German Player awards. He declared for the 2013 NBA Draft and Nike Hoop Summit simultaneously. Dennis led Team World to a 112-98 victory.
The Atlanta Hawks claimed Dennis in the first round of the draft. He played in 49 games for the Hawks his rookie season, splitting time between the bench and the D-League. Dennis again notched a win for Team World over Team USA in the Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend. 2014-15, Dennis began to break out. Jeff Teague was still the starter for the next few years, but Dennis' minutes increased. In October of 2016, he won the starting guard spot outright. Dennis led the Hawks to the playoffs. Before the 2018 season, the Hawks sent Dennis to Oklahoma City. Once again playing from the bench, Dennis has joined a Thunder team ready to make noise in the West.
By European standards, Dennis style is trendy. By American standards, he's on a different wave. No matter how you define it, Dennis has style. A tie-dye, pink sweatshirt and shorts combo? Check. Gucci tracksuit with a matching $1,000 belt bag? Check. A powder pink sweatsuit under a shiny, metallic silver down jacket? You get the picture.
Dennis’ signature hair style includes a golden patch over his left eye.
Along with his own fashion line, Dennis has started his own management firm, Golden-Patch Management.
Dennis was heavily involved with skateboarding until he found basketball at age 11.
