Born in Houston, Texas, Deandre Jordan has always been a cowboy. Deandre was a household name in Houston by the end of his senior year. He was an All-Greater Houston Area selection twice by graduation. Recruited by several top programs for college, DeAndre chose to stay in state. He committed to Texas A&M University. He played one year for the Aggies, making the Big 12 All-Rookie team. He declared for the 2008 NBA draft after the season.
DeAndre's draft stock was not strong. Most experts had him going late in the second round. Come draft day, DeAndre stayed on the board until the Los Angeles clippers took him with the 33rd pick. DeAndre sat for most of his rookie year. In January of 2009, injuries gave him his chance. DeAndre proved a monster. As the Clippers built around him, DeAndre improved his rebounding and defense. DeAndre spent nine years with the Clippers which included several deep playoff runs but no rings. In July of 2016, DeAndre went back to Texas. He signed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
DeAndre is the definition of a Hollywood cowboy. Few athletes in any league can rival his hat game. Wide-brimmed, often custom hats are his signature look. DeAndre will pair his hats with a Balenciaga windbreaker, or pinstriped trousers. Being in Texas has brought him back to his roots. Watch for DeAndre swaggering into arena across the country looking fresh from a vintage Clint Eastwood set.
