A product of Chicago's notorious South-Side, Anthony Davis began his basketball as a shooter. His middle school had no gymnasium. They practiced at a nearby church. Their division had a reputation for science, not sports. Anthony himself had a reputation for shooting outside 3's. It wasn't until his freshman year that he broke 6'0". By his junior year, he was 6'7". At graduation, Anthony ranked as one of the top recruit in the nation.
Kentucky won the Anthony Davis lottery. In his one season with the Jayhawks, Anthony was named first team All-American. He was the Consensus National Player of the Year. Kentucky won the national championship, he won tournament MVP and the NBA came knocking. Anthony was the first pick of the 2012 NBA draft. He made the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2013. He has continued his elite defense in the league. His scoring abilities have kept him an NBA starter nearly every year of his young career. Year in and year out he has shown he deserves his superstar status.
Anthony's style is always sharp and rarely shocking. Unlike some athletes, Anthony prefers function to flash. Catch him coming off the jet or stepping into the Smoothie King Arena, and most likely you'll see him fitted in something trendy and timeless. Anthony owns the blocked shot records for the NCAA and SEC single season, the NCAA Men's Division I Championship Game and the NCAA Men's Division I.
He has a twin sister, Antoinette.
