It’s all Gucci with Creative Director Dominic Ciambrone a.k.a “The Shoe Surgeon” as he collaborates with the luxury fashion brand to create three limited-edition collectible pairs of Gucci Basket sneakers, only available at the Gucci Beverly Hills store. The brand, which is celebrating its 100th year, provided upcycled materials from some of the House’s most recognizable prints to create bespoke Basket sneakers as unique works of art. The Los Angeles Lakers Pro Kyle Kuzma modeled off the new sneakers, which features a retro look with vibrant colors.
All proceeds from the three custom Basket sneakers will go to Oakland School of the Arts’ Step It Up program and will provide technology resources to the students. Step It Up is a free after-school arts program founded by the school in 2014 which focuses on connecting and preparing students of color for successful entrance into OSA by making arts education accessible to underserved and marginalized Oakland youth. Additionally, the technology provided will include design tables and computers in an effort to supply tools and resources to children.
