Sure, you could buy cheap tees assuming that you'll just wear 'em out and throw 'em away. But you really shouldn't. Aside from the fact that it's extremely wasteful, it means you can never be sure you've got a good tee (that's in good shape) at the ready. Standard Issue's Tee's are always going to be at the ready. They're cut from heavyweight cotton that's not going to wear through anytime soon, and can stand up to wash after wash without losing their shape. In other words: Buy a few now, and you'll be wearing them for years.
Elevated riffs on the T-shirt have their place, but sometimes you just want a simple crewneck that wouldn't look out of place on Marlon Brando or James Dean in their heyday. Standard Issue's tees fall squarely in the latter camp. The fit is clean but not too slim, with a straight hem and minimal adornment save for a small logo at the left hip. It's the kind of shirt that you could easily wear with a suit but it might feel even better with a moto jacket and a pair of cuffed jeans.
